Finn Partners Webinar reflection

Finn Partners Webinar On Friday, we had a webinar in which three presenters, Ariq Hossain, Brandon Sherpa, and Thiag o Alvarez Alarcon,  Do not ask me why I know their full names  presented their portfolios to various members at Finn Partners, I originally assumed this was to prepare them to present to Freshman/Incoming Sophomores later that day, I'm not sure if it still is. But either way, it was interesting to see these students present to the panel all of the work they have completed since Sophomore year. I really liked the design of Thiag o 's website, it's very simple with the Blue over White theme, and the intro animation was a nice touch too, the panel thought the same thing. When I make my portfolio, I want to implement something similar into the landing page.  How the Presenters did. Brandon's was fine, but Ariq's needed a little more work; the overall design of that portfolio seemed too basic, it mostly used a singular serif font, whereas Thiag o and Bra...

Social Justice Reflection

Why did I choose the topic of Climate Change? I chose this topic because I had taken various Environmental Science classes in the past. To ensure that I did not completely forget the information I had learned, I decided to implement it into a project. Basically, I took the easy route and did a topic I was very familiar with. This doesn't necessarily mean I remembered everything; I had to relearn a few things through my research, and also to research additional information that I most likely didn't learn yet in those classes What did I want to express through the editorial montages? I made at most 4. I wanted to express the effects through the photo montage of a factory polluting the atmosphere and the water being filled with trash (On page 4), and how the effects of climate change were felt through the maps (On page 6). I chose to mostly cover the US and Canada, as both countries have different legislation regulating greenhouse gas pollution and deforestation, and the data real...

Data Visualization at the Designing Peace Exhibition

What is the goal of data visualization? The main goal of Data visualization is to present an idea, in a way that is easy to grasp and understand. Data visualization is supposed to be a creative way to present data, such as showing data for poverty as shopping carts Conflict's Root Causes Description This exhibition is supposed to display the man-made objects sent to various points in space such as Earth's orbits, the moon, and even Mars. The purpose of this illustration is to show us how much space exploration we have done ever since the space race between the USSR and the USA back in the 1960s, this information is supposed to be easily digestible, otherwise we would've had a boring dotted graph. How can you use your skills in graphic design to visualize your data? I can use the skills I've gathered throughout my graphic design career to display in an easy to digest, ADHD-friendly manner similar to how it was done in the exhibition, but instead presenting data about cli...

Climate Change: Climate change is a very serious problem, it's when the temperatures of the planet rise due to various factors such as humans burning fossil fuels in factories or from their cars, the gases from the burning of fossil fuels get trapped in the Earth's atmosphere causing the rise in temperatures. There have been many methods to try and mitigate this ongoing issue such as legislation being passed most notably the Paris Climate Accords. Racial Discrimination: Racial discrimination is another critical issue, it can happen with anyone no matter if you're Hispanic, Black, Asian, or Indigenous. The US has had the most problems with racial discrimination such as Jim Crow Laws in the southern states stripping Black people of their rights that they just gained with the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments, or Asian people being attacked for "spreading COVID" even though any human being can spread a virus, Many movements have pushed for legislation to end discrimina...
